Board Certified Allergist & Asthma Specialist

Dr. Shah is a board certified allergist and asthma specialist who focuses on the early diagnosis and treatment of allergies, asthma, and related diseases. He has been awarded a dual fellowship by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and by the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. His extensive training as an allergist and asthma specialist and his experience in managing adults and children of all ages has earned him a “he can help” reputation among community physicians and medical professionals. He has been recognized with various awards including the America’s Top Physicians’ Award, the Patient’s Choice Award and the Most Compassionate Physicians’ Award.

His medical career began in India, followed by an internship, a residency, and fellowships at various institutions, including the College of Physicians & Surgeons at Columbia University; Albert Einstein College of Medicine; Schneider Children’s Hospital; Harlem Hospital; and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. His commitment to cutting edge knowledge is evidenced by his ongoing participation in educational activities.

Dr. Shah founded the Center for Asthma & Allergy in the year 2000 with a personal mission of “touching as many lives positively, in as many ways possible – everyday.” After more than 20 years as an allergist and asthma specialist at the Center for Asthma & Allergy, his patient base has grown from the local community to national and international patients. More than half of the new patients last year were referred by existing patients and more than 80% live outside of the Center’s zip code. In 2015, he opened a second location in Centereach and New York Food Allergy & Wellness became a new division of the Center for Asthma & Allergy, making it the first OIT Center in New York.

Dr. Shah’s work and articles as an allergist have been published in peer reviewed professional journals, local newspapers, and weekly columns. He accepts invitations for speaking engagements at educational seminars and meetings. He is also an author and a publisher of a variety of educational materials including audio CDs, videos and a series of books. The latest is an “AmazingAllergist’s Awesome Book Series for children.

As an asthma specialist and allergist, he truly enjoys “making a difference.”
